The metric custom attributes can be added in Placker to create a table with planned and actual values on a monthly or yearly basis in the card overview screen. You can then type values in the cards and the indicators can be displayed in track views.
For example, if you are managing a board and want to add multiple cost values to a card, you can create a metric attribute.
How to metric custom attributes
Like every custom attribute, create a new metric attribute following the steps in this article.
Since metric articles require space to be displayed properly, they should be added in the main area, and not in the sidebar.
Next, add the title and select “Metric” as the format of the custom attribute. It is possible to create single or date range values.
How to edit and view text values
Custom attributes are applied to each card, so click the card or row in the Gantt chart to open its panel.
It may be necessary to also click “Show empty attributes” in the right column to be able to edit, unless you enable “Show when empty” in the available custom attributes tab.
Click Add new item to enter values. Hover the mouse over the item to see the delete icon.
For date range, you can add multiple dates for each item.
Metric custom attributes in a track view
You can make metric custom attributes be displayed in a Tracker widget. To learn more about custom track views, visit the Track section of the help center.
This is how the card list widget looks:
In the example above, you can see the widget title ("Cost"), which can be customized, periods and total row.
Notice that the values are in 2020, this is because it is not a date range metric attribute and the due date of the card is in 2020.
In the edit widget area, there are some settings that can be used to shape your widget:
Widget title: it is possible to change the title to something that better describes the information shown in the widget.
Reporting period: columns by year or month.
Number of years to report: select how many to display. Keep in mind that more years will require a larger area for the widget.
Width of the item columns: determines how wide is the first column.
Right-hand side column data: total (sum) or average.
Show period/total/combined row: show or hide these cells.
Other options will be described in the next subsections.
Showing values by category instead of items
It is also possible to add the category of each item between parentheses and retrieve them in the widget by selecting the respective option.
