Show custom attributes on the card front

How to display text, number, and date custom attribute values on the card front in board view.

Written by Gustavo Braga

You can now display custom attribute values directly on the card front, so the data you care about is visible at a glance without opening each card.

This works for text, number, and date attributes.

Who benefits from this

Project managers and team leads who use custom attributes to track structured information like client name, budget, or review date, and want that data visible at a glance on the board view.

Before this update, custom attribute values were only visible inside the card. To check a client name, a budget, or a review date, you had to open each card. On boards with structured data driving daily work, that meant a lot of clicking just to see what was where.

How to show custom attributes on the card front

There are two settings that need to be enabled. Both must be on for values to appear on the card front. If either is off, the values stay hidden.

Step 1: Enable "Show on card front" on the attribute

Open your board settings and go to the Custom attributes tab. Click the attribute you want to display on the card front to open its editor. In the Settings section, turn on Show on card front.

Repeat this for each attribute you want to show. Only text, number, and date attributes have this toggle in this release.

Step 2: Enable "Custom attributes" in the board's visibility settings

Open the board view and click Visibility at the top right. Under Card attributes visibility, turn on Custom attributes.

Once both toggles are on, attribute values appear as chips on each card in board view.

What to expect on the card front

Values appear as compact chips on the card. Only the value is shown, not the attribute title. For example, a card with a Client name attribute set to "Jack", a Budget attribute set to 1000, and a Review date set to April 17 will show three chips: "Jack", "1000", and "Apr 17".

Limitations

  • Both toggles must be enabled. The per-attribute toggle and the board-level visibility toggle work together. If either is off, no values appear on the card front.

  • Only text, number, and date attributes are supported in this release. Other attribute types (such as duration, monetary, member picker, traffic light, and formula) do not have the toggle yet.

  • Attribute titles are not shown on the card front. Only the value is displayed, so users need to recognize each attribute by context.
