Automation rules in Placker can greatly enhance your workflow by automatically setting and clearing custom attributes based on specific conditions. This feature saves you time and ensures consistency in attribute management. In this article, we will guide you through the process of creating automation rules to set and clear custom attributes based on matching conditions.

This is an example of how one of these rules look like. In this case, whenever a card is added or moved to the "To do" list, the custom attribute Phase is automatically set to "Planning".

Step 1: Accessing Automation Rules

To begin, log in to your Placker account and open the desired board. Then, open its board settings. Click on the "Rules" option in the sidebar to access the automation rules settings.

Step 2: Creating a New Automation Rule

In the rules settings, click on the "Add new rule" button to start creating a new rule.

Step 3: Setting the Trigger

First, you need to define the conditions that will activate the automation rule whenever they are met. Select the appropriate trigger option from the available choices. For example, you can choose to trigger the rule when a card is moved to a specific list or when a certain label is added.

Step 5: Defining Actions

After setting the trigger and conditions, it's time to define the actions that will be performed when the rule is triggered. In this case, we want to set or clear custom attributes based on the matching conditions. Select the appropriate action option, choose the custom attribute you want to modify, and specify the desired value or leave it empty to clear the attribute.

Step 6: Saving and Testing the Rule

Once you have configured the trigger, conditions, and actions, click on the "Save Rule" button to save the automation rule. It will start working immediately. To ensure that the rule functions as expected, test it by performing the actions that should trigger it and verify that the custom attributes are set or cleared accordingly.

Conclusion

By using automation rules in Placker, you can streamline your workflow and automate attribute management.

Start leveraging automation rules today and optimize your Placker experience. And remember to regularly review and update your automation rules as your workflow evolves and changes.
