Placker use / role rights

This article explains in detail how the rights of the users that can be set on the subscription, organization and board level, influence the actions the user can take in Placker.

Subscription roles

Role types

The table below lists the different role types that are available on the subscription level to be set. When the subscription is a trial subscription, all users have ‘lead’ rights.

Note: pending members need to be added to the subscription by a user who is either a billing or lead user in the subscription.

Subscription settings

The following settings are available on a subscription level:

Limit creating new organisations, when enabled only subscription leads can create new organizations.
Limit exporting boards to Trello, when enabled, only subscription leads can create new organizations.
(new - MS Planner release) Trello, when enabled Trello is available for users in this subscription.
(new - MS Planner release) MS Planner, when enabled, MS Planner is available for users in this subscription.

Organization roles

Role types

The subscription role does not influence the organization role.

Role type	Board overview
Lead	Can add members and delete the organization, can add, import or move boards into the organization.
Member	Can add / import or move boards into the organization.
Non member	Can only add / import / move boards into the organization when this is not disabled in the organization settings.

Joining the organization

Members need to be added by a lead of the organization. Board members do not automatically become organization members when they become a member of the board. When a member is a board member, the member can always see the organization that the board is a part of.

Only organization members can add/import boards
Make this organization visible to everyone in your subscription

Board roles

Roles that are set on the subscription can overwrite the role that the user has on the board.

Member	Can view board details and move the board.	Can perform all actions on the board except deleting the board and updating members.
Viewer	Cannot view board details nor can take actions on the board	Can view cards and add comments. Can be assigned to cards. Cannot see board details
Assignee	Cannot view board details	Can view cards and add comments to all cards, can update cards where the user is assigned to. Can be assigned to cards. Cannot see board details

Actions by page / area

Placker app:

Users need to have Lead, member, view-only or billing rights to access placker.
Users that are blocked or pending in the subscription will see a related exception message.
Users that are billing in the subscription and try to access a non billing page will see the related exception state.

Subscription management:

Users need to have billing or lead rights to access the subscription section and update the subscription. Note that when the subscription is in trial, all users are considered to be leads in the subscription.

This section lists the actions that are available in the board overview section.
